Weekend Game Hunting: Berserker Barrage edition

BUYING GUIDE.

Welcome to Weekend Game Hunting, our Friday feature where we share the video games we're playing or plan to play this weekend.

Longtime fans of a certain fighting game out this week should be familiar with the headline reference for this week's WGH. The answer is the first game on my weekend video game menu:

Marvel vs. Capcom 2: The fighting game, first released in arcades and the Sega Dreamcast in 2000, pits Marvel Comics and Capcom characters -- 56 total -- against each other in 3-on-3 battles. The pace is much faster compared to brawlers such as Street Fighter and Soulcalibur. Right now, I'm trying to form a team that doesn't get immediately pummeled in the online multiplayer. So far, only the Sentinel has made the cut. Suggestions, MvC players?

King of Fighters XII: Brawling as the Bogard brothers, Andy and Terry, is great, although they remind me of '90s-era music group Nelson. Otherwise, it's a solid fighter. However, there are lot of really good fighting games available, not to mention Tekken 6 is arriving soon, and I'm not sure KOF XII does enough to stand out.

Madden NFL 10: Be sure to visit us August 14, the day EA's annual NFL sim launches, for a full review. Haven't played much of this yet, but am curious to see how the new tackling animations look.

Fat Princess: Clever strategy game tasks players with rescuing their princess before opponents fill her with cake, making her impossible to move. Curious to see how long the average match lasts.

Readers, your turn. What will you play this weekend?
